Material Development

This section is collecting all available materials in the fields of literacy, adult education and non-formal basic education from local, national and international public and private sectors in Pakistan. A library has been developed through collecting these materials for all the stakeholders.

This section has been equipped with human and material resource for designing of basic literacy, post literacy and continuing learning programs according to the learning needs on scientific grounds with a very high professional touch. The resource center has a healthy liaison and direct contact with all the top level national and international resource persons on adult education and is involving them for active participation in the activities of the Center. The material is being made ready for sharing and disseminating to all the local, provincial and national stakeholders of literacy.

Collection of Material for NLRC

MDpic2Collecting of National and International literacy material is one of the roles of NLRC. The Center is in close connection with all the stakeholders national and international for this activity. Once the material are being collected a thorough review of the material will be done for improvement purposes and will be shared with all the concerned.

For the Library we have collected the material on Literacy and life long learning from different local organizations on literacy & non-formal education. Lists of books have been collected from different publishers and book sellers for the purchase of relevant material in the field of literacy.

UNESCO was asked to write to international organizations like ACCU, UNESCO Bangkok, DESD and others for sharing of their publications. We are still waiting for your response.  

Material Development Section:
English Primers for Post Literacy (Revised Version)

Engbookengbook2National Commission for Human Development has a comprehensive post literacy program. This post literacy program comprises of 2 English Primers (English B-1 and English B-2) and one Urdu Book (“Roshni ka safar”). Keeping in view the level of neo-literates and demands from the community on increased vocabulary English Primers have been revised to fulfill the needs of learners. These primers are incorporated with different life skill activities that are used to develop different types of intelligences.  These primers are taught through phonic method as it is an easy way to learning.

Urdu Primer for Post Literacy (Revised Version)

Urdu Primer “Roshni ka Safar” for post literacy program have been revised in accordance with the Literacy Curricula 2007. Objective of this primer was;

  1. To develop language skills (listening, speaking, reading and writing) for effective communication in the required language and to continue learning;
  2. To develop numeracy skills and problem solving skills for application in daily life;
  3. To apply knowledge of ethical and religious norms and values to all spheres of life;
  4. To develop responsible attitude towards environment and health To enhance appreciation for family and community life through inculcating positive values and attitudes, including gender sensitivity;
  5. To use acquired life skills to change living conditions of oneself on the basis of informed and responsible decisions;
  6. To enhance independent and positive critical thinking.

Phonic based Learning Package

During implementation of post literacy project different complexities were faced. After a long research it was advised to develop a full fledge Phonic based learning package. This learning pac kage supports English Primer 1. Learning package includes two words character along with a picture of each alphabet. The first alphabet of the characters word starts with the same alphabets. A story is related with the character and its illustration is made interesting for learners. This method helps the learners to identify the voice of different alphabets easily.

Low cost no Cost Material (Learning Aids)

To promote learners centered teaching approach, low cost and no cost learning material has been introduced. The material will serve as interactive learning methodology and joyful learning method for learners. Several materials have been developed Learning Aids (Flash Cards, Lotto Cards, Bingo Cards, String Cards, Jigsaw Puzzles, Pictures Cards, Cut Outs story cards) for Basic and Functional Literacy.
